Edit text and images directly on the canvas

Double-click text or image layers to enter the right editing mode and know how changes are committed.

Double-click a text or image layer to edit its content directly on the canvas. IngenOps opens a different editing mode for each layer type.

Edit a text layer

  1. Double-click the text layer, or select it and press Enter.

  2. Click to place the insertion point, or drag across text to select characters.

  3. Type the new copy. Press Enter to add a line break.

  4. Use the Properties panel to adjust font, size, alignment, color, spacing, decoration, and text-box behavior.

  5. Click outside the text to commit the edit.

While editing text, Cmd/Ctrl+A selects all text. Cmd/Ctrl+B, Cmd/Ctrl+I, and Cmd/Ctrl+U toggle bold, italic, and underline. Press Esc to cancel the text edit and restore the original copy.

Edit an image layer

  1. Double-click the image, or select it and press Enter.

  2. Drag inside the image bounds to reposition the image content.

  3. Use the Image section in the Properties panel to choose fit or fill, adjust content scale, select an anchor, and set X/Y offset.

  4. Click outside the image, or press Esc, to leave image editing.

Leaving image editing keeps the current crop and positioning changes.

When inline editing is unavailable

Inline editing requires one visible, unlocked text or image layer. It does not start for a multi-selection, shape, or group.

Troubleshooting

  • If double-click enters a group instead, enter the group first and then double-click the nested text or image layer.

  • If the Properties panel still shows Visual settings, select the layer rather than the Visual frame.

  • If the layer is locked, unlock it before editing.
